I have often been accused of citing famous Canadians at the drop of a hat.  I'm at the movie theatre watching "The Matrix" and see the sleek woman in leather kicking the snot out of some bad guys.  I lean over and whisper, "That's Carrie-Anne Moss.  She's Canadian."

I'm watching the MTV music awards noting how many women are wandering up the ramp receiving their awards and I lean over and say, "That's Alanis Morrissette.  She's Canadian.  And that's Celine Dion.  Canadian.  Sarah McLaughlan?  Canadian."  It drives people nuts, but I do it anyway.

Call it Canadian Pride - that works.  Whenever one thinks of famous celebrities or sports heroes or musicians, Americans come to mind first.  Why?  Because the United States has that whole media promotion thing DOWN.  Canadians?  We're a little more laid back.  Although Hollywood North is catching up - - besides the incredible technical professionals working in Canada (specifically, British Columbia)?  It's a super cheap place to film.

Canada Entertainment

Back in the 1980's you could always spot Canadian-made television.  It was usually filmed on 1" tape because it never did have that glossy American quality to it.

It annoyed me back then.  Now, I think it's cute.

FAMOUS CANADIANS

Actors

Most people have no idea that John Candy is from Canada or Donald Sutherland, etc.  So this is where I like to list off the actors I like and let the world know that they're Canucks!  [I have no idea where this page went.  Which means, I need to recreate it.  Which means...get comfortable, it could take me a while!]

Actresses

Pamela Anderson, discovered at a football game.  Or was it hockey?  I think it was football.  Anywho...she's from Canada.  I'm a little bummed she just became a U.S. Citizen, so she's not representin' anymore, but...she was born in Canada so that's good at least.  [Same deal with this one.  The page went poof! into the ether, so I have to recreate it, too.  Hmph.]

Musicians

Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette...the list goes on.  Check this page out to see who you probably didn't know was a Canadian.  Now this list is based on my personal preferences for musicians, not the grand scope of musicians.   Apologies ahead of time if I forgot to mention your favourite Canadian musician. :)
