This is the page where I get to play with quotes I've found from all over the place.  God knows I can never REMEMBER them to quote, but maybe I'll just refer back to this page in times of need.  I've even been ballsy enough to throw in one of my own.  (My luck, I heard it someplace and just THINK it's my own.)

Since I really like quotations, I also found some quotes by celebrities - who, as we all know, just because you're famous doesn't mean that what you have to say is intelligent.   Not all, but you'll see when you read. Enjoy!

WITHOUT FEAR

During the civil wars in feudal Japan, an invading army would quickly sweep into a town and take control. In one particular village, everyone fled just before the army arrived - everyone except the Zen master. Curious about this old fellow, the general went to the temple to see for himself what kind of man this master was. When he wasn't treated with the deference and submissiveness to which he was accustomed, the general burst into anger.

"You fool," he shouted as he reached for his sword, "don't you realize you are standing before a man who could run you through without blinking an eye!" But despite the threat, the master seemed unmoved.

"And do you realize," the master replied calmly, "that you are standing before a man who can be run through without blinking an eye?"
(Zen Proverb)

HAPPINESS
"They say a person needs three things to be truly happy in this world:  someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for."
(Tom Bodett)

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
Interviews with the elderly and the terminally ill do not report that people have regret for the things they have done but rather people talk about the things they regret not having done.

I'd dare to make more mistakes next time.
I'd relax.  I would limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.
I would take more trips.
I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.
You see, I'm one of those people who live sensibly and sanely hour after hour, day after day.
Oh, I've had my moments and if I had it to do over again, I'd have more of them.  In fact, I'd try to have nothing else.  Just moments.
One after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

I've been one of those people who never go anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute.

If I had to do it again, I'd would travel lighter next time.

If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall.

I would go to more dances.

I would ride more merry-go-rounds.

I would pick more daisies.
(Nadine Stair, age 85)

LOVE
"A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams."
(William Arthur Ward)

INSIGHT
"The time to stop talking is when the other person nods his head affirmatively but says nothing."
(Henry S. Haskins)

SOLUTIONS
"For every problem there is one solution which is simple, neat, and wrong."
(H.L. Mencken)

SELF ESTEEM
"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."
(Eleanor Roosevelt)

CELEBRITY QUOTES:

LINDA EVANGELISTA  (Supermodel)
"I can do anything you want me to do as long as I don't have to speak."
(Well, at least she knows her limitations.)

SAM GOLDWYN  (Media Mogul)
Sam Goldwyn, to a newly signed actor:  "Where do you hail from?"
Newly signed actor:  "Idaho."
Sam Goldwyn:  "Out here, young man, we pronounce it Ohio."
(Ok the man knows how to make movies but he sucks at Geography - could be worse.  Oh wait.  Now the entire world knows he doesn't know the difference between Ohio and Idaho.  Maybe it couldn't be worse.)

But wait!  There's more from our pal, Sam:

"I don't think anybody should write his autobiography until after he's dead."

SIMON LEBON  (Lead singer of Duran Duran)
"I'm not a snob.  Ask anybody.  Well, anybody who matters."
(I find it ironic that this man has attitude about people who matter - has he had a hit in the last 10 years?  Anybody?)

AXL ROSE  (Lead singer of Guns 'n' Roses)
"It's really hard to maintain a one-on-one relationship if the other person is not going to allow me to be with other people."
(Mmmmmm...yeah.  Riiiight.)
